Where are you expected and how do you get there?

Your trip starts in Bergen.

We expect you at our basecamp (Bergen Camping Park) on the first day to pick up your car between 1pm and 5pm. We recommend arriving as early as possible so you can make the most of your first day on the road.

There are various options to get to the basecamp:

  • Book our optional shuttle service (€49 per person).

Please note: the shuttle operates only once at a fixed time, and is scheduled in line with our offered flights (if available). Check out the shuttle timetable.

Flights

We only offer flights from Brussels, Amsterdam and Paris to Bergen (BGO) and therefore recommend you therefore to compare the different flight options from your airport of preference via Google Flights.

What other Nomads wrote about us...

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Here are some of our frequently asked questions. Couldn’t find your answer? Don’t hesitate to send us an email.

How many people can we take this road trip?

Norway Nomads is specifically designed for groups of 2 or 3 people.

If you’re a group of 3, we provide an extra ground tent and camping gear (mattress, sleeping bag, and pillow) since the rooftop tent is only spacious enough for 2 people.

Want to join with more than 3 people? That’s possible, but you’ll need to split into smaller groups. Each group must register separately and will be assigned its own car.

Feel free to contact us in advance so we can check availability for your group.

What documents do I need to travel to Norway?
  • An international passport that is valid for at least 6 months after your trip or a valid European ID card.
  • A national, European, or international driver's license.
Can I customize the trip to my liking?

We offer a fully planned road trip through Norway, which means it’s not possible to adjust the duration or itinerary of the trip. However, you’re of course free to extend your trip on your own initiative.

What’s in the roadbook?

Our roadbook contains all the information you need for a successful road trip in Norway.

It includes the complete route, featuring all the hotspots and hidden gems that you won't find in big travel guides. The places we recommend are always suggestions: you can choose which sights to visit and how much time to spend at each.

Additionally, our roadbook also features various great spots where you can grab something to eat or drink.

Can my dog come along?

Pets are not allowed on this trip for practical and logistical reasons. Thank you for your understanding.

What does the foodpack consist of?

Our food pack includes freeze-dried meals that only require hot water, as well as ingredients for you to cook your own meals.

We offer both vegetarian options and options with meat. Each pack contains three meals per person per day for the full duration of your road trip (7 days).

Please note that the food pack is not suitable for people with allergies or those following a strict diet, as it may contain traces of nuts, gluten, and other allergens.

Electric cars: how does charging work?

You’ll be traveling in an electric car during your road trip. In that case, you’ll need to charge roughly once a day. Don’t worry because Norway is one of the world’s leaders in electric mobility, with plenty of charging stations along the route.

Charging usually doesn’t take much time, and the total charging costs remain low. The route is also fully designed for vehicles with sufficient range, so you can enjoy your adventure without any worries.

What are the extra costs?
  • Fuel: ± €350 per car for the entire road trip.
  • Food and drinks (more information under the section food and drinks).
  • Parking at tourist attractions or cities.
Can I do this road trip with kids?

Yes, as long as you don’t exceed the limit of 3 people per car.

Younger children under 8 years old sleep between the parents in the rooftop tent. For children older than 8, we provide an additional ground tent.

For babies, you receive a €500 discount. Keep in mind, however, that you’ll be on the road a lot and that the campsites have fairly basic facilities.

Can I do this road trip alone?

The entire trip is designed for two or three people. We don’t recommend joining solo, as some routes can be quite long and intense. In addition, you would need to cover the full cost of the rental, routes, campsites, and organization yourself (so the price per person x2).

How does the payment process work?

Within 5 days of your registration, you will need to pay a 35% deposit to confirm your road trip. After that, you have until 45 days before departure to change your options and pay the remaining amount. If you make any changes, the deposit will be automatically recalculated.

If you haven’t opted for the damage coverage, you’ll also need to pay a security deposit before departure (more information can be found in the insurance section).

There are various payment options. Did your payment fail? There might have been an error when entering the reference number, or you may have exceeded your account limit.

Can I still cancel my trip?

You can always cancel your road trip. Here you can find the terms and conditions. Additionally, you can also rely on the Superflex cancellation conditions until 1/03/2025.

Can I also do this road trip in my own car?

No, you can't make the trip with your own car or camper. You book an all-inclusive package trip with us.

Is there on-site support?

Upon your arrival in Norway, you'll be warmly greeted by our on-site rangers. They will welcome you and give you some information before your tour begins.

During your road trip, you can find all sorts of useful information in our app. Additionally, just before your departure, you'll gain access to a WhatsApp group with all participants leaving on the same date. In that group, you can communicate with each other, but there will also always be someone from the team available in case of emergency.

How many drivers can we have?

1 driver is included. Want to switch it up and drive with 2 or more drivers? No problem! You'll pay €85 for each additional driver.

How many kilometers is the route?

The standard route is about 1225 kilometers, including some leeway for restaurant visits and detours. Want even more freedom on the road? For €69 per car, you can add unlimited kilometers. This way, you can deviate from the route whenever you want without any worries. If you choose not to do this and end up driving more than expected, we will charge for the extra kilometers at a fixed rate per km at the end of your trip.

Can I do the road trip in the spring or fall as well?

No. We deliberately choose the summer period to ensure the best weather conditions. Besides, some campsites and facilities are closed outside of the season.

How old do I need to be to drive in Norway?

For your trip through Norway, you must be at least 21 years old and have held a driver's license for 2 years to be allowed to drive a car.

What are the Superflex conditions?

With the Superflex cancellation conditions, you can change or cancel your trip free of charge until March 1, 2026.

Can I contribute to nature in some way?

Thanks to our collaboration with Greentripper, you can offset the CO₂ emissions linked to your trip. Your contribution supports a certified project in Uganda that distributes more efficient cooking stoves, significantly reducing fuel consumption. Travelbase also contributes to this initiative.

Check out all the initiatives from Travelbase.
